London Marathon

Yesterday was The 39th London Marathon, and conditions for the 17 WRC runners were greatly improved on last year’s balmy conditions, resulting in a host of club records, PBs, and all round fantastic performances.

It was that man again, Heydon Mizon, who was first across the line in black & gold, taking more than a wafer-thin amount off his previous best, and only narrowly missing out on the club record, with an amazing time of 2:46:35. Rachel Sweatt was our first lady, improving on her previous by 5 minutes, beating the club record (which was also hers), and coming 66th out 17729 female runners! Octavia Singleton continued her onslaught of the female 45-49 club records, taking nearly 3 minutes off the previous record. Mark Austin had the highest category finish out of all our runners, coming 46nd in the men 60-65 bracket. There were three impressive negative splits run by Hayley Ellen, Tom Ashley and Helen Armitage (not running under WRC). Unfortunately, Chris Martin, who was on for around a 2:48 finish, suffered a nasty accident at mile 17, and despite battling on to mile 21, was unable to finish.

Well done everyone. Please let me know if I’ve missed your result or any important info.
