May 2026 CMOTM
19 June 2026 - By Steven Alder

Wishing a huge congratulations to Sally Hoyle who is the winner of CMOTM for May 2026! Well done Sally! Sally knocked a whopping 47 minutes off her previous best marathon time with a sub 3:30 PB of 3:29 at the Halstead marathon. A few weeks after she ran a sub-20-minute PB at our first JR5k. She is enjoying an excellent 2026 so far which has seen her representing WRC at cross countries, where she won both league and club crowns, and at the road relays as well as banking PBs at the Essex 20 and Bromley 10k during her marathon training block.
Well done to our other nominees for May:
- James Montgomery – For his runs at Halstead marathon and Baddow 10 plus coaching “team Monty” to their successes in their spring marathons.
- Jamie Light – Jamie smashed his first Marathon at Edinburgh, with a time of 3:48 on one of the hottest days of the year. He didn’t miss a single session on his plan in the build up to the big day. All this while being an incredibly supportive member of the team. His drive and ambition are something to really admire.
- James Attenborough – Well deserved sub 4hr marathon whilst being an incredibly welcoming and supportive member at WRC. Always supporting others and still absolutely smashing his own goals!
- David Jobling – For being an absolute running legend, not only does he help others with a considerate amount of care and passion coaching them with marathon plans, he also has done a considerable amount of decent runs lately, not to mention turning a big number on his recent birthday, then running Edinburgh marathon and getting a GFA.
- Sian Tate – for her PB at Limerick marathon in 4:21:44.
- Graham Eyre – for his last-minute stand-in for being the MD10 RD.
- Andrew Read – for setting up the MD10 course, writing up notes and instructions.
- Steve Hookings – for achieving his 250 parkrun milestone of which 249 of those were all at Maldon Prom.
- Christine Isreal-Jones – Having completed the London Reverse Marathon at the end of April, two weeks later she completed the Halstead Marathon, and then two weeks after that, ran and supported a fellow WRC runner through the Blackwater half marathon in the 30°c heat!
- Joe McEwan – A former chair and long-standing member to WRC, Joe has been unwell recently but has continued to demonstrate real loyalty to the club wherever he can. He also volunteered at the JR5K and is so friendly to all our members and sets an example to us all.
