Busy Weekend

Saturday 1st

Bedford Twilight 10k

Racing twice this weekend, Ben Miller’s first outing was at the Bedford Twilight 10k, coming home in 0:56:06. Given that sleep is the best Recovery I’m not sure Ben thought this through.

Sunday 2nd

Colne Engaine Festival 10 miles

Next up for Ben was the Colne Engaine 10 miler coming home in a time of 1:40:22 over a warm and sunny course. Whilst we wouldn’t recommend back to back race days, it clearly works for Ben taking over 15 minutes off his PB!!

Colne Engaine Festival 5 miles

Rebecca Chilton was representing WRC in the 5 mile race with a time of 1:07:38

Bedford Half Marathon

Dave Campbell was apparently a little shocked to find he’d entered a trail half marathon, despite the website saying it was, finishing in a tidy 1:23:21. Hot on his heels was Julia Bacon in 2:21:39

Takeley 10k

First in of the 2 WRC runners was David Andrews with a strong 0:52:55

Still buzzing from kicking Rachel Sweatt’s behind in the final John Roberts 5k, Beth Shippey ventured to Takeley, following a hard block of high altitude training in Witham, to knock nearly 5 minutes off her PB crossing the line in 1:03:52

Colne River Charity 5

Not to be confused with the Colne Engaine festival, Shawn Beckerleg ventured forth to come home in a very respectable 0:42:46 (Strava time)

Duck n Dash Aquathon, Letchworth

We don’t normally include anything in these results that might even sniff as having anything to do with Triathlon/Triathletes, and long may that continue. Triathletes are a strange bunch, as we all know.

However, we’re making a special exception for Sandy Karl, one of our newer members, who thought it would be a great idea to do a 400m swim prior to running a 5k in the Duck n Dash event. She completed the 400m swim in 0:09:10, the 5k in 0:31:20 with a total time of 0:41:24.

Apparently the rest of the time was spent in something called Transition, whatever that means!
