Triathlon Season Kick Off 2025 11/17&18 May

20 May 2025 - By Anita Grainger

The triathlon season has got underway over the last 2 weekends with WRC members.
Heydon Mizon took part in the Burghley Multisport weekend on 11th May where the British and English national championships for standard distance triathlon (1500m swim/40km bike/10km run) and aquabike (1500m swim/40km bike) were taking place. Heydon had a great swim clocking 30.16 for 1500m then unfortunately had a puncture so couldn’t continue which is a shame.

The following weekend the Stuckeys headed off to Hanningfield to take part in the sprint triathlon ( 750m swim/24km bike/5km run) . Unfortunately Alex had a puncture on the bike leg so had to pull out . Liz had a good race despite a cold and choppy swim and off road run, winning her age group. Fabulous, well done Liz!

On Sunday Anita was up north in Southport to compete in the standard distance triathlon (1500m swim/40km bike/10.5km run) a European champs qualifier . Anita had a decent race with a few fisty cuffs in the swim, a windy bike with full on headwind in one direction and found the final run lap tough in the heat.
