Tuesday LT Group
17 April 2024 - By Will Radley
Now that we’re enjoying the lighter and warmer evenings, WRC will be trialling a new LT Pace Group on 30th April at the Western Arms. This new initiative will initially welcome up to 10 members, allowing us to assess and refine the program based on member feedback.
Session Structure
Participants:
Limited to 10 members, including myself.
Warm-Up:
We’ll start with a 2-mile group warm-up at a very easy pace, gradually speeding up to prepare for the intervals.
LT Intervals:
- Complete four 3-minute intervals at your LT pace.
- Aim for consistency in each interval.
- Use the recovery periods effectively.
Recovery:
Each interval will be followed by a 2-minute easy jog to allow the group to regroup.
Cool-Down:
We’ll conclude with a cool-down that ends at the pub.
Total Distance:
The route will cover approximately 6 miles.
Additional Note:
Please add this session to your watch for tracking. If you need help with this, feel free to ask.

Support and Inclusion
Don’t worry about being at the back; I’ll be there. Moreover, after each LT set, lead runners will jog back to rejoin the group. We are here to support everyone’s efforts, accommodating all skill levels. Please note, this will be a challenging session.
Benefits
Personalisation:
This session tailors intensity to individual effort levels.
Physiological and Psychological Gains:
Improves oxygen utilisation over time and builds mental resilience.
Recovery Education:
Teaches effective moving (not static!) recovery techniques.
How it differs from Thursday Speed Sessions
Unlike the speed sessions on Thursdays, which typically involve static rest periods between shorter, more intense bursts, the Tuesday LT group emphasises continuous movement. Recoveries are active, meaning you will jog lightly instead of stopping, maintaining a flow and keeping the body engaged throughout the session. This approach helps simulate race conditions where there is no rest and enhances endurance and recovery capacity.
Joining
The spots for this session are limited. Please sign up early to secure your place.
