Results 18/5/25

A real spread of events through the weekend, and thanks as always to those who submitted, as I might not have been aware of some otherwise.
Dunton Test Track 10
The first of 2 10 mile races this weekend (plus a 10k option), WRC representation at this was in the form of pacers. Helpfully (jk) the folks at Dunton didn’t include any of our pacers in their official results, so I’m afraid the following is a manual/Strava round up of those I know entered.

Pier to Pier Race
Ian Lucas was at this Sunderland Strollers hosted event – 7 miles from South Shields pier to Sunderland pier. He completed this in 1:03:13
Hackney Half
Gus Maby was on the marshes for this busy London half with over 20,000 finishers. Gus finished in a PB of 1:33:32 – well done!
Castle Trail
Another ETE trail event this weekend, with the WRC contingent all opting for the HM distance.
Terry Alabaster finished in 8th place, in a time of 1:59:41
Steven Alder, Clarice Sanderson and Andrew Read crossed the finish line (I assume hand-in-hand) in 3:11:42. Well done all!
Colchester Stampede 10k
Runners get to charge through Colchester Zoo for the first 1k of this popular 10k event, with the remaining course on closed roads. The beady-eyed among us will have spotted Dawn Shilling coming out of retirement 😉

Bluebell 5 mile
Lysia Jiggins was ready to prance through the bluebells of Little Haven Nature Reserve, at this Pitsea Runners event. She finished the course in 1:05:28, although sadly there were no bluebells to be seen.
Baddow 10 mile
A popular, but hilly, course and a Club Champs race this year. We had a good turnout and some great results. Hello, and hats off, to brand new member Stephen Boxall in his first ever race – we expect great things to come!

Well done to everyone who raced this week 💪🏻👏🏻
I’ll finish on the somewhat boring note of results submissions: Thank you to everyone that submitted this weekend – quite a lot more than average, but still a large number of you regularly don’t submit. I do always try to pick up Witham entries from well-known/local events, but as this weekend shows, results pages aren’t always reliable – some large races don’t always display club details, and (for some reason) pacers often get left out of results publication.
It’s really easy to submit via the results link: Result Submission – Running – Witham Running Club and reminders are posted on FB and Whatsapp on a regular basis. If you would genuinely prefer NOT to appear in results posts, then please do let me know. However, we assume that most of you would like your achievements recorded, and it’s great publicity for the club, as Colsey uses the result posts for his press submissions.
Thank you for indulging my small rant. I do love you all, just not on Monday mornings 🥰
