parkrun – 29/08/2026

For the final parkrun of August, we visited Basildon, Frank’s Farm, Maldon Prom, Great Notley, Loch Leven, Walton Promenade, East Holmes Field, Felixstowe, Peacehaven, Luton Wardown, Farfalle (Italy!), ARU Writtle, Great Cornard, Beccles Quay, Poolbeg (Ireland!), Mersea Island and Clacton Seafront. A few of the local events were off this week, but nice to see a few parkruns on this week’s list that don’t normally appear.

Well done to our international tourists this week – Dean Whittaker (22:01) in Ireland doing Poolbeg and Karen Pickering (22:44, 1st female and a nice time where the seconds are double the minutes) in Italy at Farfalle.

We had quite a few WRC single tourists out and about this week… Leo Cole (21:23) at Basildon, Brigid Wallen (25:56 1st VW60-64 and highest Age Grade) at Loch Leven, Michael Poulter (39:27) at Walton Promenade, Banksy (24:33) at East Holmes Field, Christine Wager (32:30) at Felixstowe, Steven Alder (29:10) at Peacehaven, Giles Sowerby (19:10) at Luton Wardown, Nadia McLeod (23:40) at ARU Writtle, Lee Tooey (21:15) at Great Cornard, Simon Gill (21:08) at Beccles Quay and Patrick Hinchliffe (39:46) at Mersea Island.

The Beazeleys went off to Frank’s Farm, with Chris finishing in 25:21 and Nichola in 27:55. Whilst over at Clacton Seafront we had Daniel Griffiths (20:54) and Bethany Shippey (37:27).

Our regularly attended event of Maldon Prom saw Geoffrey Reddin (24:11), Steve Hookings (24:26), Alan Cutler (26:17), Darren Ward (27:12), Christine Israel (30:57), Ian Cuthbert (30:58), Dawn Shilling (31:53) and Joe McEwan (35:19). Great Notley welcomed Keith Taylor (27:38), Angela Read (30:54), Michael John Struthers (33:51), Lysia Jiggins (34:14) and Andrew Read (53:50).

An extra parkrun in September?!

If you happened to find yourself in Malaysia on the 16th of September, you could end up doing an extra parkrun for Malaysia Day! Although only one parkrun is doing the extra, which means that Taman Tasik Kota Puteri parkrun is the only parkrun in the world hosting on that day. I wonder how many tourists will go to do it?
