parkrun – 06/06/2026
12 June 2026 - By Steven Alder
June is a much quieter month for parkruns compared to May – less than half the amount, with only 4 events this month compared to 9 events last month. Although it does seem like it was a wet one for some! Witham RC could be found at Billericay, Maldon Prom, Raphael, Brooklands, Chelmsford Central, Riverside Park (Glenrothes), Worsley Woods, Sizewell, Horsham, Ferry Meadows, Great Notley, South Woodham Ferrers, Thorney Bay Beach, Wickford Memorial, Markshall, Brickfields, Norwich and Swansea Bay.

Daniel Griffiths and Samuel Hajder completed Swansea Bay parkrun this weekend before tackling the Swansea Half Marathon the next day. Dan completed it in 23:30 although Sam seems to be an Unknown runner. Gus Maby was the other side of the country in Norwich, where he completed the course in 22:49. Andrew Read (Funnel Manager) and Angela Read (Timekeeper) were Witham RC volunteers this week at Markshall. They saw Simon Parsons (22:45) and Karen Flowers (30:22) cross the finish line.

A few other solo trips this week saw Leo Cole at Billericay (21:22), Adam Hocken at Raphael (26:09), Dawn Shilling at Brooklands (30:17), Brigid Wallen at Riverside Park, Glenrothes (26:10), Ian Lucas at Worsley Woods (27:56), Geoffrey Reddin at Sizewell (30:54), Steven Alder at Horsham (28:25), Giles Sowerby at Ferry Meadows (19:16 & 1st VM45-49), Karen Pickering at Great Notley (25:52), Ross Silverton at South Woodham Ferrers (33:27), Leo Tooey at Thorney Bay Beach (22:20) and Andrew Smith at Brickfields (22:10).

Quite a few went off to Maldon Prom this week: Dean Whittaker was the leader of the pack in 22:44, and then became a Barcode Scanner. He was followed by Vicki Riley (23:59), Steve Hookings (24:48), James Attenborough (26:49), Mick Conroy (27:03), Chris Beazeley (27:24), Nichola Beazeley (27:36), Chrissy Israel-Jones (30:41), Ian Cuthbert (30:41), David Grainger (33:23), John Denis Le Seve (33:26) and Joe McEwan (51:06).
