Ekiden Relays – Sunday 17th July 2016

9 March 2016 - By James Kennerley

One for the diary!

As this is one of the highlights of the year in terms of the team events, I thought it would be good to get plenty of notice out for the Ekiden Relays which are on Sunday 17th July.

For those in the know this is a great event that is always well supported so it would be good to get a number of teams out across all the categories; so make sure you have it in your diary.

For those that don’t know (or need reminding), the Ekiden Relays are held at Woodbridge School in Suffolk, and consits of 6 legs covering a total of 26.2 miles with the legs being as follows:

  • Leg 1 – 7.2km
  • Leg 2 – 5km
  • Leg 3 – 10km
  • Leg 4 – 5km
  • Leg 5 – 10km
  • Leg 6 – 5km.

The event itself is always well attended across the various clubs in the area, with 160 teams expected this year. It usually is a really good social event too as the course is laid out in such a way that the spectating is always really good with plenty of opportunity for cheering on the runners. There is usually a bar and a BBQ as well!

More details will be posted closer to the time.
