May Day 10 Cancellation
It is with huge sadness and disappointment that we have to inform you that we are cancelling the Witham May Day 10 race on 3rd May 2020.
In some ways it is still hard to accept the reality of the situation the whole of society is in, and these are certainly extraordinary times. Based on the current outlook, we do not believe it is likely that government advice is likely to relax enough to allow our race to safely take place. Whilst we have tried to avoid making a knee-jerk reaction, we would much rather make a decision now to avoid any doubts or confusion.
We of course hope that you, your families, friends, colleagues, and neighbours are all well and are managing to cope in the current situation.
We have carefully considered all our options and how to proceed from this point. Unfortunately, it is not feasible to postpone the race to later in the year.
We recognise that this cancellation may not be a surprise, but might still be disappointing and also recognise the difficult circumstances some people may find themselves in. Whilst Witham Running Club is not a small club, we are also not a large one. We therefore intend to refund 80% of your entry fee with the remainder being used to cover the costs we have incurred. This will be paid back to you through Entry Central and should credit whichever payment method you used to register for the race.
The Essex Committee are aware of our decision, and with the Essex Marathon having also been cancelled, are actively assessing the impact and options for the 2020 Grand Prix.
Hopefully one day soon, when things return to some degree of normality, we can turn our attention to next year and Sunday 2nd May 2021 when our race is provisionally set for. We have also agreed that as an entrant to this year’s race, you will receive advance notice of when we open entries next year.
Stay safe everyone.

Thank you fMarc for all the hard work done to get MD10 to this point. Difficult decision to cancel but I believe the right one in this unprecedented time of uncertainty. Be safe. Bill
