APRIL FOOL !!! – New Club Policy Regarding Running Footwear

1 April 2019 - By James Blackshaw

******** This is April Fool, Thanks for Participating! *********

Members,

The club committee has recently taken the decision to restrict certain types of running footwear that can be used when a member is claiming a club record, a club standard performance, or club championship points.

The reasoning behind this decision, is that we believe that records and awards should be achieved through hard work and training, rather than just buying a piece of kit which gives an unfair advantage. We’re runners, not cyclists, after all.

See the below for the current list of banned footwear:

Nike Vaporfly 4%

Newton Distance

Adidias Adizero Adios

Mizuno Wave  Sayonara

Over the coming weeks, we will be asking members to submit a form which catalogues the footwear you intend to use in your upcoming races for the year. This form will be stored in the club documents section of the website.

We will also be retroactively checking race photography from the previous 7 years, to ensure previous club records were not gained by using the advantageous footwear.

Many thanks,

JB

Outrageous! If you can buy the shoes from a retailer they should be legal.
Look forward to discussing at the next committee meeting.
