VLM places

17 December 2018 - By Marc Underdown

As announced on a couple of Tuesday’s, through our affiliation to English Athletics, we receive one ballot place for the Virgin London Marathon. Our club constitution sets out the process on how we allocate that place, but initially the main rule is that you have to have applied for the VLM and been rejected. I will be announcing the result of our own ballot process on Tuesday 18th December.

Following an initiative, we introduced last year, we have again also secured an additional VLM place with a well-known local charity partner, Helen Rollason Cancer Charity, who we have worked with and supported previously. To allocate this place, we will still apply the “Overriding Qualification Criteria” set out in the club constitution. However, there will be more flexibility considered to the “Additional Criteria”.

As part of our arrangement, any applicant for this place will be expected to raise £600 towards this place/charity – which is favourable to normal charity places and of course it is for a very worthy cause.

To help us consider the applications for this place, we would ask you to indicate what plans you may have to raise this if you wish to be considered for this place. We would also welcome any further information which may support why you would want to run for this charity. For those who have already submitted your rejection slip, please let me know if you would also like to be considered for this additional place by providing this additional information”

I’d be grateful if you could provide this information before Sunday 23rd December if you wish to be considered for the additional charity place.
