The p-index and L-index

The p-index is a fun challenge for those with several local parkruns to choose from. It is the highest number (x) for which you have completed at least x different parkruns at least x times each. For example, if you have completed Chelmsford, Colchester, Maldon and Writtle at least four times each, your p-index is 4. To increase it to 5, you would need to complete each of those four events to at least 5 and attend a fifth parkrun five times in total.

The L-index is a similar challenge for parkrun tourists, offering an alternative to the Alphabet Challenge. It is the highest number (y) for which you have completed at least y different parkruns, each beginning with a different letter, at least y times each. For example, to achieve an L-index of 3, you would need to have completed three different parkruns beginning with three different letters at least three times each. To increase it to 4, you would need four qualifying events, each starting with a different letter, completed at least four times each. Each parkrun venue can only count once, regardless of how many times you have run there.
