parkrun – 15/08/2026

WRC members attended South Woodham Ferrers, Markshall, Lochore Meadows (Scotland), Great Notley, Burnham-on-Crouch, Clacton Seafront, Chelmsford Central, Leamington, Walton Promenade, Whitecliffe Lake, Great Yarmouth North Beach, Ingrebourne Hill, ARU Writtle, Y Promenâd (Wales), Thorney Bay Beach, Victoria Park Newbury, Mersea Island, Hockley Woods and Groe parkruns. Maldon Prom and Colchester Castle were both off this week.
Markshall parkrun was our most popular event with members Adam Hocken (24:57), Ben O’Leary (25:26), Trevor Johnson (25:45), Rachel O’Leary (25:48), Alan Cutler (26:03), Sue Shippey (30:05), Angela Read (30:54), Dawn Shilling (34:15), Ann Johnson (34:36) and Joe McEwan (36:49). Andrew Read was also there as this week’s Funnel Manager.
Elsewhere in Essex, we saw Burnham-on-Crouch parkrun with Vicki Riley (26:11 and her 222nd parkrun!), Christine Israel (29:45) and Ian Cuthbert (29:46). Leo Cole (21:37) went to South Woodham Ferrers whilst Keith Taylor (28:10) and Darren Ward (28:43) went to Great Notley. Clive Smith (21:49) and Lee Tooey (22:42) went to Chelmsford Central whereas at Walton Promenade was Christine Wager (32:44) and Nadia McLeod (34:36).
Some of our solo tourism trips this week included Brigid Wallen (24:55) at Lochore Meadows up in Scotland, Steven Alder (31:54) at Whitecliffe Lake, Geoffrey Reddin (26:49) at Leamington, Karen Pickering (22:26) at Ingrebourne Hill, and James Goodey (24:17) in Groe for his fourth ever parkrun.
Dean Whittaker (21:58) was over in Wales this week for Y Promenâd parkrun, Llandrillo-yn-Rhos whereas Giles Sowerby (27:01) went to tackle the challenging sand at Great Yarmouth North Beach. Victoria Park in Newbury saw Annalise Etherington complete a double time of 23 by finishing in 23:23!
And back in Essex we had ARU Writtle with Simon Gill (21:01) and Adam Regan (39:12), Thorney Bay Beach hosted Patrick Hinchliffe (39:48), Mersea Island with Andy White (29:30) and Daniel Griffiths (32:20) and finally Jamie Marlow (21:06) at Hockley Woods.
