parkrun – 18/07/2026

This week, Witham RC members were attending Maldon Prom, Chippenham, Thorney Bay Beach, Edinburgh, Walton Promenade, Longrun Meadow, Rickmansworth, Cassiobury, Haverhill, Basildon, Newtown, Great Notley, Harwich, Thurrock (Orsett Heath), Markshall, Chelmsford Central, ARU Writtle, The Lost Gardens of Heligan and East Grinstead.

Karen Pickering this week grabbed herself 1st female at Haverhill, finishing in a great time of 21:21. Meanwhile, several parkruns were visited by just one Witham RC member this week: Adam Hocken (25:18) went to Chippenham, Steven Alder (28:00) did Rickmansworth, Ross Silverton (32:17) was at Basildon, Giles Sowerby (19:41) was at Cassiobury, Mike Struthers (33:24) at Great Notley and Lisa Leader (32:50) at Harwich.

Other solo outings included Simon Parsons (26:48) at Markshall, Lee Tooey (21:43) in Thurrock, Chrissy Israel(34:11) at the long named The Lost Gardens of Heligan and Gus Maby (23:48) at East Grinstead. The Wallens were at Edinburgh this week, with Tony being timed in at 22:24 and Brigid at 25:02.

The Graingers were at Longrun Meadow to celebrate Edward’s 25th parkrun milestone. Edward finished in 26:00 (congratulations!), while Nicholas ran 23:50 and Anita 28:07, taking 1st VW55-59. The new-ish event at Canvey Island, Thorney Bay Beach, was visited by Geoffrey Reddin (25:12) and Dawn Shilling (30:45).

Maldon Prom, popular as ever, had Jamie Marlow (19:48), Andrew Lager (23:07 1st VM50-54 and 400th parkrun), Steven Hookings (24:55), Ian Cuthbert (25:08), Chris Beazeley (25:47), Nichola Beazeley (27:17), Sian Tate (27:48), James Attenborough (27:48), Jodee Mayer (34:57) and Natalie Lilley (35:17). Loving the Witham RC turnout here!

Walton Promenade parkrun welcomed Daniel Griffiths (33:19), Simon Handley (33:20 his first time here), Nicola Digby (35:02), Bethany Shippey (35:04) and Michael Poulter (40:53). Chelmsford Central parkrun had Andrew Smith (21:47) and Dean Whittaker (23:28) whilst over at ARU Writtle was Karen Flowers (29:15), Jon Shippey (30:41) and John Flowers (36:52).

The Nation’s 5k
The Nation’s 5k tour is currently making its way around the UK (more information is available on their website), and it’ll be visiting our area in August. We’ll share another post with more details, but the nearby parkrun events are Ely on 22nd August and Southend on 29th August.
