We changed how we organised teams this year — instead of dividing by strength, we grouped runners to finish at roughly the same time. In short, this worked well. All four teams finished within seven minutes of each other, with Team 2 and Team 3 just nine seconds apart.
Ekiden 2026 Recap
6 July 2026 - By Will Radley
The Ekiden Relay has become a staple of our race calendar, and while we had fewer teams than normal this year, it remained a success with 24 runners spread across four teams.
Here are the team results:
| Team | Runners | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Team 1 | Wally, Anita, Amy, Monty, Colsey & myself | 03:36:28 |
| Team 2 | Annalise, Clare, Liz A, Rachel, Dan & Georgia | 03:32:56 |
| Team 3 | Graham, Liz S, Simon S, Lisa, Mark & Irina | 03:33:05 |
| Team 4 | Ben, Alex S, Sam, Lysia, Lee & Celine | 03:29:29 |
Our Intra Team Cup winner was therefore Team 4. Ironically labeled by Ekiden Relay organisers as ‘Wrc Team 4 – Worst Pace Scenario’.
This year’s Annabelle Read Award went to Celine. All members voted anonymously, and while I can neither confirm nor deny that I voted for myself, Celine was a thoroughly worthy winner on the day.
Thanks to Jodee for all the admin before race day, and to all our runners who helped set up and clean up.
