Your club needs you!
10 November 2025 - By Jodee Mayer
Following Karen’s post here in addition to the volunteers needed for BD5 – sign up here or on a Tuesday night – and the announcement of the Theresa Montgomery Supporter Award, we are looking for volunteers for a couple of things to help your club.
Social media and website help
We are looking for a couple of “non-executive” committee members to take on the following roles:
- Social Media – we have a few kind people who upload posts to our various social media pages but we would like to get a dedicated person or two to increase the posts on our public social media pages.
- Website assistant, to work with Steven on all things website. The website is built in WordPress if that makes any difference!
If you can help with either of these roles, please let any committee member know. There will be no requirement to attend committee meetings or undertake any additional duties.
Timing equipment
As you will recall from the AGM, we are also moving forward with purchasing our own race timing kit. This is a huge investment for the club, and we will only be able to do this if we have enough volunteers to learn how to use it to ensure we can use it at our own races and, hopefully, hire it out to other local races.
Long term, purchasing the kit will mean we have more profit from the races to reinvest into the club (as Karen said in her post, this is how we keep subs so low and pay for cross country, road relays, Ekiden etc., and subsidise the BBQ, Christmas and Halloween events, dinner dance, etc.) and donate to charities.
We are advising that the training will be remote, and take a few hours – exact details to be confirmed once we are able to move forward.
As with all roles at our races, volunteers to join the timing team do not need to be members of the club but could also be family members.
If we are able to move forward with hiring out the kit to other clubs, we expect to be able to offer payment to those who help out at the external races (not MD10 and BD5).
If you are interested in joining the timing team or have any questions about what this might involve, please let Jodee know.
