April 2025 CMOTM

18 May 2025 - By Steven Alder

Our CMOTM for April 2025 has been awared to Gemma Thomas – For being absolutely legendary, showing grit, determination and courage in the face of such adversity. After falling ill at mile 20 and spending 2hours in the medical tent, she still had the will to go on when most people would have pulled out. Walking 6 miles to the finish line to complete her first marathon, Gemma’s inspirational effort and admirable performance shows the true spirit of the marathon. An inspiration to all and raising funds for a very worthwhile cause.

Our other nominees for April were:

Amy Maleary – For all the work put in for a sub-5-hour Marathon at Brighton and achieving a 45-minute PB from her London time 2 years ago, all with a knee injury. Despite the knee injury she had a great training block and even managed to get new PBs during her training over shorter distances.

Beth Shippey – For her first marathon at Brighton and all the work put in to get there and finish!

Nicola Digby – Despite not wanting to run a marathon, Nicola wanted to join the Sunday long runs to improve her fitness and after the 18 miles training run, decided she might as well run her first marathon at Brighton! Her decision meant that she had to sign up for a charity place and raise money for WWF instead as the race had sold out. This is true dedication, and the result paid off with her completing the marathon in 5:15:58!

Will Radley – For his PB at London and breaking 2:39:29.

James Blackshaw – For standing in, mid 28-mile-long run, into the open Men’s team at the Essex Road Relays, running a great time in trail shoes ensuring the team was complete and no-one else had to run a second leg.

Nadia McLeod – For a well-deserved Manchester marathon performance – sub 4 hours and her first marathon! All the hard work paid off.

Andrew Read – For completing the London Marathon, a fantastic achievement.

Sian Tate – For her PB in awfully hot weather, a hilly “flat” marathon, and on cobbles at Lake Garda Marathon.

James Attenborough – For his PB in awfully hot weather, a hilly “flat” marathon, and on cobbles at Lake Garda Marathon.

Owen Dare – For his efforts during the marathon at TCS London.
