Mike Henderson Ursula Henderson wanted our London runners to vote on this. Important for her to be considered were not just fastest but also what gave motivation to do London, if someone did a lot for charity, someone who struggled with injury or other adverse factors in the run up, someone who struggled with a work/life balance, a training/family balance or some other factor or perhaps someone who encouraged and assisted their fellow runners, or maybe just a good old fashioned PB!
Best performance The outstanding race performance of the year.
Brian Humbles Award This is awarded to the person who has made the most effort to achieve performances, i.e. “Commitment to Excellence”. This is not necessarily the best runner.
Jan Stobirski Essex Way Shield Awarded to the person who showed the most “outstanding contribution” to the Essex Way. The award is in memory of Ian Stobirski’s grandfather who was a great believer in the British countryside and the spirit of taking part rather than winning. Each year the EW Race Director (stage 5 is WRC) will consult with the people taking part and helping out in the event. The race director will then make a recommendation (or 2) to the committee. The committee will then be able to ratify the recommendation or award the shield to another worthy individual.
Club Person of the Year Person the committee feels has done the most for the club over the year. Note that this is wide open to all club members (not the voting) and should not be awarded to a committee member just for doing what they were elected to do.
Rookie Triathlete of the year Only open to members who haven’t participated in triathlons previously and awarded based on best performance.
Triathlete of the Year This can be awarded to anyone who has competed for Witham in a triathlon event during the year.
