parkrun – 08/08/2026

WRC members attended 16 different locations this week. These were Shepton Mallet, Wollaton Hall, Colchester Castle, Woking, Maldon Prom, Walton Promenade, Fitzmaurice Park, Roundhay, Alton Water, Barry Island (Wales), ARU Writtle, Clare Castle, Markshall, Wickford Memorial, Great Notley and Upton House parkruns.

This week saw Glen Waller completing his 21st parkrun, and his 9th time at Maldon Prom, in 26:56. It won’t be long until he reaches his 25th Milestone! He was joined at Maldon Prom by Jamie Marlow (19:38), Annalise Etherington (23:27 course PB), Vicki Riley (24:40), Simon Parsons (25:52), Dean Whittaker (25:53), Anita Grainger (30:20), Ian Lucas (32:01) and David Grainger (35:36). Steve Hookings was the Barcode Scanner. Please note, Maldon Prom is not on for this upcoming Saturday (15th August), but they’ll be celebrating their 600th event on the 29th August. Colchester Castle is off for the rest of August.

Steven Alder crossed the border to Wales, completing Barry Island and the Gavin & Stacey challenge in 33:13. There were a few other solo tourist trips this week, with Leo Cole (21:10) at Shepton Mallet, Adam Hocken (29:58) at Colchester Castle, Dawn Shilling (41:53) at Woking, Geoffery Reddin (26:28) at Fitzmaurice Park, Joe McEwan (37:51) at Roundhay, Christine Wager (32:30) at Alton Water, Karen Pickering (24:12) at Clare Castle, Lee Tooey (22:09) at Wickford Memorial, Mike Struthers (33:47) at Great Notley and Lysia Jiggins (38:02) at Upton House.

Over at Wollaton Hall you could find Chris Beazeley (24:18) and Nichola Beazeley (27:27). Whilst in Essex was Andrew Smith (19:03, 3rd place, 1st SM30-34 and his 200th parkrun), Karen Flowers (28:49), Jon Shippey (29:26), John Flowers (34:40) and Bethany Shippey (40:07) visiting Walton Promenade and Giles Sowerby (19:05), Christine Israel (29:53) and Ian Cuthbert (29:53) at ARU Writtle. Finally, at Markshall were Lisa Leader (34:47) and Angela Read (55:22, Tailwalker), alongside Andrew Read (Funnel Manager and First Timers Welcome) and Monty (Timekeeper). (Timekeeper).
