As is often the way, Remembrance Day weekend saw a lot of race action as we remember those who have been lost by doing something we love.

Rochford Remembrance 10

Just 2 WRC members at this new rival 10 miler; Lysia Jiggins finished in 1:43:12 (season’s best) and Craig Vernon finished in 1:47:41.

Lysia says this is a nice course, so maybe a few more will be in Rochford next year…

ATW Remembrance Runs

Held at Carver Barracks, this series of runs has a distance for everyone, with 1 mile, 5k, 10k, and half marathon races.

In the 5k, Amy Eyo finished 2nd female V35 in a time of 22:15 and Simon Handley finished in 19:14.

In the half marathon, Dylan Alston finished in a PB time of 1:36:05, Thomas Moysey in 1:41:02 and James Goodey in 1:51:18.

Hare and Tortoise Remembrance Run

This is always a special event, with the cannon being fired at the start. Just 2 WRC members in Brightlingsea this year, with Chrissy Israel-Jones completing 3 laps (19.65 miles) in 4:08:36 and Ian Cuthbert completing 4 laps (26.2 miles – a marathon) in 4:26:33.

The Hobble

And last but not least, this 16 mile (though Terry submitted it as 166 miles and I do wonder just how many wrong turns he took this time…) self navigation event attracted a few WRC members this year:

Harry Solomon 2:31:24
Terry Alabaster 2:32:36 9th
Andrew Lager 3:00:08
Simon Scott 3:00:22
Steven Alder 4:04:32 Longest distance in 10 years!
Sian Tate 4:04:32
Clarice Sanderson 4:04:32
Shane Ketteridge 4:11:51

An incredible weekend of running on the roads and trails, with distances from 5k to a marathon showing what WRC is all about.

A couple of reminders – please don’t forget to enter races as WRC – the above includes those who did so and those who submitted (who didn’t enter as WRC…) – it makes Nat’s job so much easier when the results can be extracted by club – and to submit your official result rather than your watch/Strava time – had a few I had to triple check this time.
