Speed Development – Progressive Pace Sets

This session is aimed at getting used to running at varying and increasing speeds. You can pick to suit where you are with your running at the moment or what you are training for.

We will do 3 sets of 3 x 3 minutes, where you will increase pace every 3 minutes.
Between each set there will be a 2 minute recovery.

Possible pace variations to consider:

  1. Easy/ Goal Marathon Pace/ Tempo Pace
  2. Easy/ Tempo/ 5k Pace
  3. 1/2 marathon pace/ Tempo/ 5k Pace

Please bear in mind that this is just a guide, but when thinking about your progressive paces make sure you will be able to comfortably increase every 3 minutes and do this three times over!

It would be advisable to program this into your watches for review afterwards as you did last week at the Doubling Down session, but we will have whistles on the night just in case.

As with every Thursday session it is really important that you run at least a mile or two as a warm up prior to the start.
