Weekend results, inc Chelmsford 10K

It was a traditionally cold afternoon for the Chelmsford 10K yesterday. Huddling together for several team photos was therefore quite welcome.  Luckily the rain stayed away and we were only left with a lighter breeze than overnight, and the circular nature of the course meant that that was helping in the final 3 miles.

In these conditions, PB’s were being set here, there and everywhere. Taking around a minute off your PB is good at any level, but to take that off when you run around a six minute miling pace is an amazing achievement, so huge congratulations to Heydon who finished in 11^th place. We then had a further four runners getting under 40 minutes with Scott, Sean and Giles all setting new bests.

Vicky had a great run, paced initially by myself and then Lee, and was the first of our ladies to finish. She was 3^rd female vet overall, taking around 2 minutes off her PB and is getting very close to setting another club record! Further PB’s came for Paul Thomas, Andy Notley , Graham Eyre, and Charlotte Elms. Colesy got the better of Anita this time, but she still picked up another PB. Tracey was fresh from a PB at Stebbing, and she also got another yesterday. Rob Grimwood ran his first 10K, and I’m sure that being married to a CiRF will lead to lots of future PB’s!!!

Over at Hadleigh in Suffolk, Steve Hennings, Karen Flowers and Martina Byrne took part in the 5 mile race, known for being tough due to a big hill at the start. That didn’t stop Steve getting in the PB mood, as he finished in 38:07. Karen finished in 47:55 and Martina in 58:20.

Louise Pascoe, Tony Smith and Ross all opted for the longer 10 mile race option, with Louise finishing in 1:28:56, Tony in 1:29:40, and Ross in 1:36:59.
