Weekend Results & Another Mens Champion
8 October 2017 - By Anita Grainger
WRC was represented over 4 races this weekend;
James Blackshaw took on the Saltmarsh 75, an Ultra marathon along the Essex Saltmarsh coast over 2 days with 38.1 miles on day 1 and 36.9 on day 2. James successfully completed the entire distance in an impressive 13 hours and 41 mins.
Dawn Shilling ran her 10th half marathon in her 2017 series of 12. Today it was Wimpole Half, a tough, challenging off-road and hilly course in 2:09.56.
Nick Inns, Christine Wagner and Kayleigh Carr took on the Royal Parks half in London. Nick finished in a new PB of 2:02.25 , Christine and Kayleigh finished in 2:25.44 and 2:28.35.
Over at the main WRC event, Tiptree 10 where 29 members took part in one of our series of club championship races. Weather conditions were pretty favourable which showed in the numerous PBs that were set today.
The course is a favourite amongst club members starting in Tiptree then heading down the hill into Messing and then a loop round country lanes before heading towards Easthorpe and then back through Messing and up the lovely hill towards the finish in Tiptree.
Mark Finbow ran in his first claim colours for South London Harriers securing a top 10 finish in an impressive new PB of 59:14. Heydon Mizon narrowly missed out on breaking the 60 minute barrier in a new PB of 1:00.42 and will no doubt go for it at Stebbing 10 next month. Mark Austin continues on his quest to fill up the trophy cabinet picking up first Male Vet 60 category with a shiny new PB of 1:08.37. Carina Taylor was our first lady home with a new PB of 1:22.59, paced round beautifully by Steve Hennings. Unfortunately, two of our members didn’t finish which is always a shame to see. Bethany Shippey had to pull out after the first mile with thigh problems and Anita Grainger pulled out at 5.5 miles as she continues to battle with her foot injury.
Well done everyone full times below:
