St Peters Way Ultra 45

27 February 2018 - By James Crisp

On Sunday Brigid Wallen, James Blackshaw and myself (Terry Alabaster) ran in the St Peters Way Ultra which starts in Ongar and finishes at the St Peters Chapel in Bradwell.

We had a bit of luck in as much the previous weeks weather had dried up a lot of the mud. It was also so cold on the day that a lot of the ground was still frozen. There were bits of mud but nothing like we saw when we ran some of the route a few weeks ago. The downside to the day was the wind that never stopped and made a cold day almost unbearable.

James had a cracking run finishing in 7.26 for 20th place. Brigid and I ran together and were very pleased to finish in 9.41 with runners coming in for 2-3 hours after that. We thought it would take us 10 plus hours so we’re very pleased in our time.

Thank you to the organisers and especially the checkpoint volunteers who were very friendly and extremely encouraging.
