Pleshey & Essex Half Marathon – we have two champions!!

A few weeks back, during a little, gentle Strava stalking, some of us noticed something interesting going on. A certain member of the club was banging out training runs for the Pleshey & Essex Half at a quicker pace than last year’s winner!!
Nothing was said, which explains the look of shock and bemusement on Rachel Sweatt’s face after today’s race as I present to you the new Essex Ladies Half Marathon champion in a time of 01:25:49!!
In the words of the presenter “It’s been a few years since we’ve announced Witham as a winner”.
With Angie O’Shea coming in 12th in her first half; and Liz Stuckey 15th, the Witham Ladies secured the County Silver team medal for the club as well.
Over in the men’s team, Mark Austin went one better than his 10k Silver at Brentwood, bringing home the Mens V60 Gold in 01:35:30
As for everyone else it was a day of mixed fortunes. There were big PBs as well from David Hunt, Sean Darney, Owen Dare, Andy Lager, Nik Bainbridge, Danny Connor & Lee Blake; whilst many of us had a tough day on the road and will be looking to put this one behind them quickly.
