orion forest 5 race 3

9 August 2016 - By Terry Alabaster

On Saturday Brigid Wallen and I ran in the above 5 mile trail race held in epping forest which starts near the Orion Harriers clubhouse in Chingford.

We were both intending to take it easy but for different reasons. We started in the pack so as not to go off to fast at the beginning but found the first 200 yards very crowded and probably to slow. We then hit a bottle neck where we stopped for a good 30 seconds before running again.

I had no choice but to take it easy due to a couple of niggles that although improving are still making running not as smooth as I would like. I finished in 41.08.

Brigid needed to take care as she is running the Stour Valley Path 100k next weekend. She finished ahead of me in 40.19 which was quicker than her previous run.

I was due to run with Brigid next weekend but have had to admit defeat in trying to clear my injuries which is extremely disappointing to say the least.

I know Brigid is looking forward to the challenge of completing 100k and I hope it all comes together on the day and she finishes in style.
