Ipswich 53-12 Cross Country Results
14 January 2018 - By Anita Grainger
On a pretty non-descript Jan morning 20 WRC members took part in race 4 on the 53-12 series a little light on numbers with just enough ladies to score. However, despite missing numbers the ladies performed well and finished in 3rd place and the men in 5th. James Crisp is having a great season improving on last years time and headed the WRC charge home.
Overall the team came 5th but we have managed to hold onto 3rd place in the league after such a fabulous start to the XC season. We could have finished 2nd today and moved up the league table into second knocking Colchester Harriers down to third, an opportunity missed. There are still two races left and it would be great to hold onto our 3rd place or move up to 2nd. Hadleigh picked up 5 league points today after finishing 2nd and now have their eyes on knocking us down the table so there is everything to fight for.
It was great to see David Grainger make his cross country debut which he ‘enjoyed’. Unfortunately Alex Stuckey had to pull out due to injury and James Montgomery hurt his calf in the final field and limped to the finish, wishing them both speedy recoveries.
Thanks to Becky Grimwood, Emma Austin and the Montgomerys for providing cakes and to Theresa and Anita for managing the scoring and to those who put up and took down the club gazebo
The final 2 league fixtures are as follows where we need good WRC support
18th February Hadleigh
11th March Gosfield
