Hampton Court Half Marathon
19 March 2018 - By Dawn Shilling
Yesterday I ran the Hampton Court Palace half marathon. The race started opposite the palace, and then ran along the Thames tow path. The route took us through some of the town of Kingston, before heading back along the other side of the river. It was very scenic. We then headed back passed the palace grounds for the 2nd lap. Along the route we were entertained by drummers playing, and singers, passing them twice, all very entertaining, especially as the conditions were extremely cold and very wet and muddy too places. The last two and a half miles of the route took us through an extremely muddy and slippery path through Bushy Park before heading back towards the palace grounds. We still had a picturesque view of the snow covered grass of the park, the course finished on the stoney path at the palace. I enjoyed the course but was tough in places and finished in 2 hours 11 minutes 10 seconds.
