Gosfield 53-12 Cross Country Results – WRC holds 3rd Place!

This week is was the turn of Gosfield Cross country in the 3^rd League fixture. WRC came out in force with a turnout of 48 runners! The course commences with the first mile round the school field before heading off into the woods for the next 3 and finishing the last mile with another lap of the school field. The woods section is challenging with lots of mud and a couple of hills thrown in. It’s pretty course although most runners were focused on staying upright!

The club has successfully held 3^rd position in the league which is fantastic and a great way to end 2016 with the final 3 fixtures in the new year.

The club put in another solid performance with the ladies holding 3^rd position and the men repeating 4^th. Overall the club came 3^rd, 1 place up from the 1^st race and have stay 3^rd in the league, what a fantastic result! It was great to see new faces amongst the WRC team trying out cross country for the first time.

Congratulations to Mark Finbow who was awarded the Peter Whiticker Cup and Helen Armitage the Brian Wiley Cup for first placings for Witham.

Now onto the maths part… although only the first 4 ladies and 8 men score here are more examples of how non scoring runners can affect placings;

In the ladies 8 of our ladies came in front of Springfield Striders 1^st runner & Harwich’s 3^rd runner & 11 came in front of Harwich’s 4^th runner.

Putting all that aside the team spirit helps EVERYONE to have a good race and enjoy the experience.

The next race is on 22^nd January at Ipswich. Let’s continue to build on our solid performances so far, showing we should remain in Division A. Look forward to seeing you ALL there!
