Colchester Half – 1 Club Record and 8 PBs

The Club Champs is now well and truly underway, with two events this weekend. Following yesterday’s  Essex Road Relays, a number of club members took on the Colchester Half Marathon.

Firstly, we’ve had some of enquiries from those that have looked at the Official Results online around mystery club member Marc Marc. “Is this Marc Underdown?” some have asked. “Is he really in a tribute act for Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch (early 90’s US Hip Hop Band for those too young to remember)?” was also questioned. We have tried to contact Mr Underdown for a comment, via his agent, but have received no reply so far and will assume the answer to both of the above is Yes.

So with the important stuff out of the way lets get to the results. Rachel Sweatt continues to break club records (her own on this occasion) with 2nd overall placed lady (1st Senior Lady) and a new PB of 1:21:57! That sub-3 London Marathon looks well within reach.

It was personal bests galore today also for Giles Sowerby, Owen Dare, Nik Bainbridge, Tanya Cregan, Gavin McClure and Julia Bacon, all achieving great personal success.

Finally, a big shout out goes to David Grainger, who completed his first competitive HM in a very respectable 1:56:00, well within his target time for the day.

Next up in the Club Champs is the Bromley 10k in just 2 weeks time!! It’s going to be a competitive year.
