WRC Trail Run – Sunday 20th May, The Wick at Tollesbury

8 May 2018 - By James Blackshaw

It’s been difficult finding a date for our May trail run, seeing are there so many big local races this month, but with the Gt Baddow 10 on the 13th, and the HBO 10k on the 27th, I have settled on the 20th May, which means that those of you signed up the Boxted 10k or the Braintree 5 will sadly miss out. 🙁

The location of this run will be the beautiful Tollesbury Wick nature reserve, which gives excellent views over the point where the River Blackwater escapes out into the English Channel, and also takes in a redundant railway line that travels out into the water, Tollesbury Marina, and a number of WW2 pillboxes.

There are a number of distance options (7.1 miles, 10.8 miles, or 13.5 miles), and the good news is that the navigation is really easy. I will publish a set of navigation notes, but in general it will be “Keep the water on your right, and the fields on your left”.

We’ll meet in the car park on Woodrolfe Road (CM9 8SB) at 9:00am, where there are public toilets.

Groups and paces will decided on the day, but there’ll be a group for everyone, and dogs are allowed. Please try to car share if you’re coming from Witham (about 15 minutes drive)

And if it is a really warm day, feel free to bring your swimming kit, as there is an excellent public lido a short walk from the car park, in case you want to cool off!

Any questions…just ask!

James
