Springfield Striders Friday 5 – The Barry White Memorial Race

“My first, my last ……” Quite an evening for a small, but perfectly formed, group of 7 members in some hot and challenging conditions with Witham RC bookending the race.

Rachel Sweatt was 1st Lady home picking up £25 in prize money, along with another Club Record, with a time of 0:29:27. Gerry Greenwold smashed his PB by over a minute, with Kev Harper & Ross Silverton recording season best times. Ross was 1st back in his age group, but as he left early someone else got given his prize of a box of tea bags!!

Last up (literally) was Martina Hennings who kept the tail cyclist company, making sure everyone else got home safe.

Brentwood 10k

Over in Brentwood, David Grainger and Colin Short were the only club member running in the scorching conditions this year, with David coming home with another PB of 0:52:48

Nayland 10k

Karen Flowers was over in Nayland Village for the trail 10k crossing the line in around 1hr 6min. Our on the spot reporter said it is a lovely run over lots of stiles and thru various kissing gates! Undulating though… only it’s 2nd year but still had 900 runners! Very well marshalled
