Venturing over to Trifarm

2 July 2017 - By Anita Grainger

For those of you venturing into the world of triathlons or just open water swimming here’s a little write up on Trifarm.

As I’m not running at the moment I finally fulfilled a long standing promise to get myself back into open water swimming and headed off to Trifarm for the first time last Sunday.

It’s located in Boreham between the village and the river, for those of you who did the standrard route on the Six Bells Pub run you will have run straight past it.

Trifarm is open 7 days a week between April and October, weekdays 5-8pm, weekends 8.30am-2pm and consists of a lake with laps of approx 800m with a running track round the outside of about 1k. There are changing rooms, bike stands and a most importantly a cake stand which also does bacon rolls at the weekend.

It’s a very friendly place and I was made to feel welcome. For first timers you need to fill out a form and do an induction which involves knowing the safety rules and showing you can swim competently out to the first buoy (200m approx.)

In true WRC I have been helped to get to Trifarm and a big thank you to Rach Pearsons for giving me her old wetsuit and lots of advice, Liz Stuckey for taking me on my debut trip and Carina Taylor and Lee Blake for advice on googles as my old pair steamed up. I’ve enjoyed it so much that I’ve now made 3 trips to the lake to swim in the sunshine with good company and the local wildlife.

Here’s the link to the Trifarm site for more info, there’s also a facebook page….… if you’re thinking of taking the plunge go for it!
