Tiptree 10, The Hunt for Club Records Continues and other weekend results

9 October 2016 - By Anita Grainger

24 WRC members took part in today’s Essex Champs over at Tiptree 10. Conditions were good although a little bit warmer than forecast which did not deter 11 PBs and a club record being smashed, showing the continued improvement of runners at the club.

Dave Campbell was our first man home in a new PB of 63.27. A PB wasn’t enough for our first lady home, Vicky, who continues on her quest to hunt down more club records smashing the current 10 mile one in 71.12 bringing her total to 4, leaving the remaining 3 quaking in their boots! Steve Hennings continues to go from strength to strength and knocked an outstanding 6 minutes of last years’ time to earn himself a shiny new PB of 78.42.

Vicky, Shelley and Anita narrowly missed out on a county bronze medal for ladies’ teams coming a respectable 4th Place. Graham Eyre took on his first 10 mile with post Loch Ness marathon legs finishing in an incredible 80.10, not bad for a first 10 miler race!  Special mention should be given to Dave Enders who caught up with Anita just before 3 miles and stayed with her for the rest of the race, dragging her to a new PB which has evaded her for 4 years at this distance, thanks Dave!

The course was well marshalled by Tiptree road runners who were friendly and encouraging. well done all!  Times below;
