Pub runs – The Compasses, Gt Totham

22 June 2016 - By Stewart Waller

Despite a few notable absentees our run from the Essex Pub of the Year attracted a good attendance with conditions just about ideal for a saunter around the lanes. As usual there was also a good number remaining for food afterwards but the exact figure is debateable. According to our host he took 56 orders. If correct (and why should he exaggerate?) then this is a club PB unlikely to be bettered but I think that number is slightly higher than the actual number of members who gathered for announcements before the run! In any case the final figure did exceed 30 so well done to all.

Now depending upon your calendar yesterday (Tuesday) was the longest day. What is not in doubt, however, is that we are already approaching the half way mark in our summer pub run calendar so ensure that you make the most of the remaining schedule.

Next week is a first for us. Yet another Compasses, this time the one at Pattiswick just off the A120 (CM77 8BG) where we can promise you a truly great route.

Slightly longer than usual at 6.1 miles and undulating in places it is very quiet and scenic and definitely not one to be missed so see you there!
