Pub runs – The Alpha and the Omega

31 August 2016 - By Stewart Waller

Well, we started at The Willows on the 26th April and finished at The Willows on Tuesday evening when 29 of us stayed on for food plus many others for drinks. How quickly the summer pub run schedules seem to pass (or is it just an age thing?). One certain thing, however, is that it has proved the most successful and popular season that I can remember with more members than ever socialising after their run and it is particularly pleasing that so many of our newer members are also joining in. Thought is already being given to next years programme when it is hoped to introduce one or two new pubs and routes and so if you have any ideas or suggestions let’s hear them.

For now though it is finished until next spring but don’t despair. Before returning to the football club (on the 13th September) next Tuesday sees the first of the winter pub runs (yes, there will be others) or, as our chairman preferred to call it, an autumn pub run. Taking place at the popular Angel pub in Kelvedon a special ‘runners menu’ is being provided and a new route has been plotted by our treasurer on which, he assures me, it is impossible to get to lost (?). It will, however, be dark by the time you get back to the Angel and so hi-viz is mandatory!

Do try to make it as it will be a great evening.

See you there.

Stew
