Parklife session details for 27/7/17

“…it’s not about you joggers who go round and round and round….”
Well, actually Mr Albarn, this week it is!

It’s the summer (so they say) so let’s welcome with a cheer another parklife session. Steve and I look forward to seeing lots of you there tomorrow night.
For those of you new to the club, or new to the session, the plan is as follows –

Meet at Witham Leisure Centre (inside) ready for a session briefing at 7:30pm.
After briefing, we will do a short jog to the park, followed by warm up drills.
Then begins half an hour of efforts – running two laps of approximately 400m (one slightly longer, one slightly shorter) in a figure of eight style around 2 of Witham’s finest green spaces.
The effort will be running around the field edge, at a pace called ‘sub chatter’ (ie you cannot have a conversation as you are running). For those of you who are up on your pace awareness, this will be just faster than your 5k race pace.
After one lap, you will have a walk/ SLOW jog recovery to the next park for the next and then repeat for the 30 mins.
The idea is to adjust your recovery as needed so that your effort (lap) pace/ speed doesn’t need to slow.
After the efforts, we will jog back and stretch at the leisure centre.

The skills focus for this session will be posture – more on this at the briefing!

A couple of important points –
This is suitable for all members – there is no such thing as ‘too slow’ EVER, but certainly not to attend an effort session.
Bring water if you want to, but especially if it is warm (obviously).
Bear in mind we are running on grass and so if you are particularly tasty for the tiny flying creatures of the world – spray up!

See all you fine athletes tomorrow.

Becky
