Le Mont Saint Michel Marathon Normandy France
30 May 2017 - By Sue Shippey
On a very hot sunny weekend four of us, Karen Flowers, Louise Pascoe, Haydeh Safavi and myself travelled to France to take part in a marathon. There were 4500 runners . The course took us through picturesque villages and along the coast. We had to run with farm fields around us, which we soon got bored with! We could see Mont -Saint Michel still in the distance surrounded in mist. That was where we were to finish. The heat and humidity hit us hard and we all struggled. Apparently it was 75% humidity. It was great to be able to finish together, with only seconds between us. The locals were very supportive and cheering us on. We met some characters on the way! The race was very well organised and the refreshments around the course and at the end were very much appreciated. We all had an enjoyable weekend as our partners and family joined us in celebrating afterwards.
