Halstead Marathon water station – final instructions.

18 April 2022 - By Stewart Waller

Me again and my thanks to the nine of you who have volunteered to help at the No2 water station on the 8th May. Names can be seen below my original post. We need to be on site and set up ready for the first runners who should be appearing by about 10.30

Parking at the water station (which incidentally covers the 6 and 18 mile marks) is very restricted so may I suggest the following? First of all car share if possible but meet at Halstead Leisure Centre in Colne Road, Halstead at about 9am. There is a dedicated marshals car park next door at Ramsey school (CO9 2HR) – look for the signs. From there we can all travel to the water station in two or three cars.

I will have T shirts for you and hi-viz tops but please remember to bring your own food and drink together with sunscreen and raincoats – one or the other will be required judging by previous years! We should be finished by 2.30pm.

As I have said before we have always had a lot of fun at the water station but more importantly is the need to give maximum support and encouragement to all of the runners especially as they will have climbed a long hill to get to us – twice!

Incidentally, for those of you who know about such things (and I haven’t a clue!) the What3words location of the station is: tempting.surfaces.trombone. No comments please!

See you on the 8th.
Stew
