Gosfield Cross Country – Sunday 11th

7 March 2018 - By Steve Hennings

Our captains, Carina and Bill, look forward to welcoming you all to Gosfield on Sunday morning for the last Cross Country race of the season.

In what, they have promised me, will be a true festival of Cross Country Running & Culture there will be mud galore, the famous Witham comradeship and lashings of cake. With this being the last race of the season the Peter Whiticker and Brian Whiley trophies will also be awarded to the first male and first female to finish respectively, and the positions will also determine the winners of our cross country series.

Venue = Gosfield School, Halstead Road, Gosfield CO9 1PF

Race Time is 10.45hrs, so please aim to be there by 10:00hrs. Upon arrival locate one the team captains and let them know you’ll be running.

The route is completely off-road and perfect for giving your XC spikes an outing, otherwise Trail shoes are strongly recommended (especially after last week’s snow and subsequent thaw).

As ever, the event is free to all WRC members, and a great turn out will ensure we retain our position in League 1. All runners must wear club shirts/vests please.

Getting there:- The school is situated close to Gosfield village on the Halstead Road. Travelling from Witham/Braintree direction, when you reach Gosfield, turn right into Halstead Road about 150m after the King’s Head and the school is about 800m on the left.

Please note that the school hall will be unavailable on this occasion. They will instead use the new sports pavilion which has toilets, changing rooms and a kitchen. However, space is very limited so please do not leave any kit bags in there before, during or after the races. Please get your free drink after the race then vacate the area to allow access to others.

Additional toilets and changing rooms will still be available in the main building.

Please try to car share as much as possible as there is limited parking at the venue.

p.s. Get a nice early night on Saturday!
