GENERAL ARMS and CROSS-KEYS

2 July 2017 - By Colin Short

On Tuesday it was noticeable that the hardy souls of the club turned up as opposed to the fair weather runners! Only joking (or am I?). The course is I think you’d agree the hardest of our pub runs, but the food arranged afterwards made it a worthwhile night for those 18 brave souls who braved the weather and the course.

As for the next venue I have visited the Cross-Keys at White Notley (NOT Hatfield Peverel) and met the landlord and landlady Gary and Lois who are looking forward to our visit and have set up a very nice, reasonably priced menu for us. Although the pub car park is quite small, Gary has arranged for further parking at the village hall on the right as you leave the village heading towards Braintree. You can also park at White Notley station but please park sensibly and not block any driveways. Also please don’t park in the High Street between the pub and the village hall as we don’t want to antagonise the residents as we would like to be invited back.

Be there or be square as they say! Finally footwear don’t forget this run is part trail (however, if it’s dry road shoes should be suitable).
