Club Championship 2016 – first update
17 June 2016 - By Marc Underdown
As spring comes to an end, the flow of races eases slightly, so it seems a good time to publish the provisional standings in the club championship. Please click on ‘Award’s and select ‘Club Championship table‘ to see the standings.
Already we’ve had nine club championship races, as well as lots of other opportunities to earn commitment points. What is most pleasing to see is that we’ve already had 30 ladies and 57 men take part in one of the nine races which is far more than normal at this point of the season. Indeed Shelley, Kerry, Andy, Dave Hunt, and Ross have already completed the full set of club championship distances, and in doing so have set the marks for others to aim for.
At this stage with runners having run a different number of club championship races, it’s hard to see who will ultimately come out on top. With Brigid focusing on her 100k trail race, this may create an opportunity for a new name on the ladies trophy and several ladies have made a good start. Mark Austin will no doubt be keen to retain his trophy and has made a solid start to his defence. However with many runners continuing to improve and PB’s being broken here there and everywhere, will his reign come under threat? Ultimately time will tell!
I will look to publish the next update around the end of September. Please note that these standings are provisional.
