1K reps: what a Thursday night effort session!
24 April 2018 - By Emma Austin
This weeks efforts session is the fabulous 1k reps! So what’s in it for runners? 1k reps help improve V02 max which is the maximum amount of oxygen that you can use during intense sessions such as this! This will enable you to then run harder for longer distances so that’s a bonus!
With this in mind what a great way to test your pace in preparation for the first of our summer 5k series next week!
We shall meet at Witham leisure centre where we will commence with a pre session briefing at 19.30, we will then jog up to Eastways where our session will take place. The session will last for 30 minutes after a dynamic warm up. Your pace should be around your 5k pace (maybe a little faster as you get a 90 second recovery after each km).
The technical point of the night – you guessed it arms!
Temperatures are predicted presently at 14 degrees so please bring adequate hydration and an extra layer to keep warm after the session. There will be a car so you can leave valuables during the session.
As always it would be great to see as many of you there and if you haven’t dipped your toes with efforts before this is a great session to come and try its for all abilities and pace can be adapted if your back from injury or have a race planned for the weekend – come on give it a go!
Steve and Emma look forward to seeing you on Thursday.
