brigid writes "A front door key was found on our refreshments table at the end of leg 5 (Gt Tey) on Sunday.
If anyone who ran on Sunday is missing a key, please e-mail me using the link on 'Contact Us' and I will put you in touch with the person who has it in safe-keeping.
Many thanks

ians writes "Dear all
The Essex Way results are now finalised. I am pleased to say that Team A and B completed the relay and came 28th and 24th respectively.
Offical results: http://www.essexway.org.uk/results/exwr2010.pdf
Heading up the gents Jon Booty finished fastest in his leg coming 6th. The fastest lady was Julie Boyden coming home 25th. Special mention goes to an exhausted Michelle Burton who pipped a gallant Pete Gold to the finish 28th on her first attempt at the Essex Way.
I would also like to thank my fantastic team of marshals who gave up their Sunday to help out. Special mention goes to James and Teresa who risked carbon monoxide poisoning and irritable runners by marshalling the A120 crossing.
2010 was a great success for the Essex Way and for all of those involved. I am already looking forwards to 2011!
Cheers
Ian "

mediumt writes " Congratulations to all those who pulled on their club vests to take part in this year's Essex Way Relay. At the time of writing, the final results have not been posted but the feed back through the phone lines was that everybody had put in performances to be proud of.
Two teams entered meant finding 20 willing volunteers so thanks to Tony & Claire Gordon, Mark Jeary, Brigid & Tony Wallen, Darren Smith, Kristian Fulljames, Peter & Lorraine Gold, Martyn Byford, Paul & Julie Boyden (running together), Dave Smith, Tom Duhrsen, Keith Taylor, Mark Williams, Adrian Smith, Jon Booty, Michelle Burton, Tracey Denby and Debs Lewis.
With so many runners needed it was inevitable that there would be some forced changes so special thanks to Ian Stobirski, Tracy Bromboszcz, Richard Liles and Penny Clarke for stepping in at short notice.
We were also hosting a stage so thanks to Ian Stobirski, Dave & Naomi Emerick, Lyn Williams, Phil Martin, Wendy Martin and Theresa & James Montgomery for marshalling and making sure not too many runners got lost. Special thanks to Dave Smith for setting up the finish area after working the night shift and then running leg two.
It was great to see so many members representing their club in what is a fun and informal race. Even better was seeing so many of the newer club members turning out, with several making their debuts in Witham colours. Who knows, maybe next year we will rival Springfield Striders for the number of teams entered! "

"You
may remember my colleague Nikki contacting you last year to let you know about
the Starfish Breakfast 10k on Clapham Common.
"I
hope you don’t mind me contacting you again to let you know about this

Alongside
the chip timing and new route we have the usual Starfish T-shirt, medal, breakfast bag and children’s activity area.
It would be a great if you might be able to let your members know about the

entry fee of £23 goes a very long way to supporting children orphaned by AIDS

frank writes "I just received the following email:
"Would any of your club members be interested in taking part in a different
kind of running challenge later this year? Urbanathlon 2010 will take place on
Sunday 26 September at Memorial Park, West Ham, E15.
"This is an
exciting 5K challenge event which will involve running, climbing,
sliding, jumping, hurdling and crawling through an urban obstacle course! In fact everything from clambering over cars
to sliding down the roof of a building!
"No mandatory sponsorship is
required and the
entry fee is £40 per individual advance entry. Runners can enter as individuals
or in a team. Alternatively,
running club members can compete against each other in teams of three.

"Sense is the sole nominated charity for the
event. Sense is the national charity that supports and campaigns for deafblind
children and adults in the UK.
With your help, we can ensure that deafblind people connect with the world
around them and do not live in isolation. Our vision is to ensure that
every deafblind child and adult has the opportunity to live, learn and
thrive.

Jackie also offered to post some flyers to hand out to club members or to display at the club. If anybody wants these send me an email (use the webmaster email in the "Contact Us" link in the menu on the left) with your address and I'll pass it on. "

Caldeonian Challenge Update
|
|
lorraine writes "An update from Alex Wood about his weekend away on the Caledonian Challenge (hill efforts in Wickham Bishops should be easy for Alex!):
Just to let you know that our team managed the 54 miles in 23 hours 30 minutes. As well as the distance and the hills we had to deal with rocky paths and swarms of Scottish midges.
We were lucky with the weather. It didn’t start to rain until 02:00 Sunday morning, wasn't heavy and had stopped by about 06:00.
Finally, I only have two blisters and am 'excused boots' for the moment but am already thinking of ways to improve my time! "
