alanPilgrim writes "As mentioned in "THIS WEEK AT THE CLUB" it's Witham Running Clubs turn to host the 53-12 cross country this Sunday 21st Feb at the Discovery centre. We still need a couple more marshals so please make every effort to attend to either run or marshal. Please can marshals get to the discovery centre for 8:30.
The junior race is at 10.00 and the adults race at 10.45. Please see below for race information.
Thanks,
Alan
Welcome to the Witham 53-12 Cross Country Race at the Notley Discovery Centre. We hope that you will enjoy the route. There are excellent changing facilities on the lower ground floor including showers for runners to use. Refreshments are located on the ground floor where snacks, etc will be available to purchase alongside the complimentary teas/coffees. Please be aware that this facility is open to the general public.
Getting here: The Great Notley Discovery Centre is on the A131 Great Notley Bypass. Follow signs for Braintree, then Great Notley and finally the Discovery Centre. Runners should park in the new car park immediately on the right when entering the park. The parking charges are £2 per car, so we would encourage car sharing where possible. Please ensure your pay and display ticket is visible in the windscreen as Braintree District Council have advised that wardens will be on patrol that day. Postcode: CM77 7FS
Race information The 5 Mile course is primarily flat, mainly on grass with a couple of challenging hills around a public park and adjacent fields on footpaths and bridleways. There will be signs and marshals warning the public of the race, and guiding runners. Along the route there are two wooden footbridges that can become slippery when wet, please take care when crossing them, they will be signed, marshalled and gritted. First aid will be provided by St John Ambulance and any marshal will be able to summon them if required. A mobile St John Ambulance unit will be patrolling the course during the race and Marshal 9 will have a limited first aid kit.
Toilets, Food & Drink and Registration will be at the main Discovery building adjacent to the car park
It is your responsibility to ensure your personal safety during the race and that you are well and fit to run. "
