The Club is reintroducing its Standards Scheme.
The Open age times (Male and Female) are unchanged from the previous scheme, but inconsistencies eg. having to run a faster pace at a marathon than at 20 miles etc have been removed. In addition, the Female standards
have been made proportionally similar to the Male standards and so are tougher to meet.
A certificate will be awarded to a member who achieves a Standard in their relevant sex and age category for any single distance. A member who achieves a Standard at all of the recognised distances (Marathon, 20 Miles, Half Marathon, 10 Miles, 10 Kilometres, 5 Miles and 5 Kilometres) will receive a small memento recording their achievement. Where different Standards are achieved across the distances, the award will be at the lowest level achieved. A further certificate or memento, as appropriate, will be issued where a member subsequently achieves a higher Standard.

It will be a member's own responsibility to apply for a Standard by supplying details of their name, date of birth and qualifying performance(s) i.e. name and date of the event as well as their finishing time. The relevant information should either be
emailed to the chairman or passed to him through a committee member. Although the Scheme comes into operation in May 2012, performances prior to that date may be taken into account for an award, provided they were achieved in the same age category as applies at 1st May 2012.
A personal timing will be accepted where it is not wildly different from the official time! To achieve a particular standard the time must be the Standard time or lower. In other words, a runner in the Open Male category, for example, who finishes a marathon in 2 hours 40 minutes 00 seconds will achieve the Diamond Standard. If his watch ticks over to 2 hours 40 minutes 01 second he must be satisfied with Gold and the commiserations of clubmates that he will surely receive!
