Phoenix Striders 5.2K

Julie Boyden was Witham's only runner in the Phoenix Striders off-road 5.2K race at the Plotlands Reserve in Basildon on a hot and sultry Tuesday evening.

Julie has run this race before but the conditions conspired against her and she wasn't able to improve on her previous best time, completing the course in 25:58.

Dartford Half Marathon

Chloe Burt's training for the Berlin marathon has suffered lately due to pressure of work, but she was still up nice and early on Sunday morning to toe the line for the Dartford half marathon.

The race was really well marshalled, offering plenty of water and much appreciated sponge stations as the hills and sunshine made for hot, thirsty running.

Chloe crossed the line in 2:15:14 and is now determined to shave a couple of minutes off her next race time.

More PBs at Brentwood 10K

Sunday saw a couple of PBs from our runners at the local Brentwood 10K, an undulating course starting in Herongate and wending its way through the countryside to Little Burstead and back. Scott Enders was the first Witham runner home in a new personal best of 48:26, closely followed by Shelley Wray in 48:38 (another personal best) and her 'pace maker' Dave Enders (also 48:38).

Firstly a big thank you to everyone that turned out to represent Witham Running Club at Ipswich yesterday.

It really was good to see such a big turn out and also the fantastic support that was given to each and every runner. This was clearly demonstrated by the large numbers that stayed behind long after the leading teams had finished to cheer in Carmel.

Special thanks to Ian for his great organisation to team captains, Alan, Mike, Dave and Brigid for bringing together the teams and for those gallant guys that ran two legs. Also to Frank and his wife for the excellent photographs that can now be found in the gallery.

Looking forward to next year alraedy.

Martyn
